Day Two

UK Sevens Football Tournament

On Friday 21st May the 'Stables Lions' said their farewells before leaving Bisterne to defend their 'Everyman' trophy awarded to them at the last UK sevens  football tournament.
We stopped on the way and polished off one of
David's famous packed lunches.

On arriving at Newquay we decided to stretch our muscles and develop our skills with a kick about on the beach   On Saturday morning after a hearty breakfast we
played the first of our matches against Leprechaun
Celtic.

Playing on pitch number one we had a running commentary and James got a mention when he threw his shirt off in disgust after being substituted for Richard late in the second half.

With temperatures in the high twenties we stayed under cover between games and continually applied factor fifty sun block.

.

The final match of the first day pitted us against the 'Inner City Football Club'. This was a very sporting game which was enjoyed by teams and spectators alike. The culmination of which was an amazing penalty kick from James beating the goal keeper as he frantically dived to his left. James's victory belly slide was vigorously applauded by the spectators who demanded an action replay, of course James was only to happy to provide.

After some disappointing results (loosing all our games on the first day) we retired back to the hotel to celebrate Antony's Birthday.
Drowning our sorrows with a few 'sherbets' and a wonderful meal we retired early to recuperate for the next days play
