| I lived in Harleith, a residential home, for 19 years. I enjoyed living there but decided it was time for a change. I didn't like the noise and having to share a home with seven other people. I wanted to be more independent. Living there and having no responsibilities was making me lazy. I decide I wanted to move to my own home. |

In May 2006 Joseph, from Advance Housing, helped me buy my own home. I took out a mortgage. I now own 72% of my home and my benefits help pay the bills. I chose my home - it is close to my friends and the train station. This was a big change in my life. I was worried about the move and there was a lot of waiting. Buying a house is very stressful! |

So happy to be in my home!

I interviewed and chose my own staff. I wanted to find people I could get on with. I asked all the questions at interview and scored each person out of five. I took photos so that I could remember people. |

Even shopping is fun!

I have my own life now. I can have who I want in my home, I work with small children at a nursery and I am going to buy a dog soon. I am trying to help other people buy their own homes. I think it is a brilliant idea! |
