SFHT is very proud of its learning and development programme which has been developed to train both staff and volunteers. Delivered by the Training and Development Department, we provide comprehensive training to all staff from new starters to the management team. |

In 2007, we introduced our Induction Pack which incorporates the Common Induction Standards for all social care workers within our client group of Adults with Learning Disabilities. These standards provide the benchmark for safe working within our client group and all newly appointed together with existing staff, are required by SFHT to complete this training. SFHT complies with the General Social Care Council stipulation of completion of Induction within the first 3 months of employment for all new employees. |

Mandatory training which includes Health & Safety, First Aid, Food Hygiene, Fire Awareness etc. is also delivered on a 3-monthly rolling programme either by external trainers or our in-house training managers at our training venue. Other training includes Autism and Epilepsy training and Makaton sessions for all staff and service users. |

SFHT values all training and encourages staff to undertake NVQ qualifications in Health & Social Care. Currently 23 staff are studying with local colleges and training agencies. Similarly, training courses are regularly attended by the Management team to maintain and update their skills and performance. |
