Tony & Martin’s Big Pier to Pier Bike Ride from Brighton to Bournemouth raised £2,548.75
Martin says...I've always enjoyed my time with the clients and staff at SFHT. To support them by fundraising personally gives me a special feeling of satisfaction and achievement.
There are a few people I'd like to thank. The clients we visited on the photoshoot, their enthusiasm and support for us was tangible. Tony and I came away from them more determined than ever to do the ride in whatever weather conditions!!
The generosity of people that donated was amazing. Secretly Tony and I hoped we'd raise £1000 but didn't want to go public with it in-case we fell short. Big thank you to everyone who has donatedand helped us raise £2,548.75.
A special thank you to Tracey. Without your knowledge, know-how and encouragement I don't think we would have raised as much, thank you. Of course your weather forecast was priceless on the day too.
Finally a massive thank you to my mate Tony for his time, experience and on occasions his patience. He took me from a complete novice in three months to a point where I felt I could ride all day over any terrain, uphill, downhill, on the flat and in any weather. Cheers Tony, I'm proud to class you as a mate even if you have cost me a small fortune in equipment, cycling clothing and now, my own bike.
Here’s to our next challenge...watch this space!

CHARITY SILENT AUCTION
The Stable Family Home Trust provides a full range of services to support adults with learning disabilities in Hampshire and Dorset to lead fulfilled and active lives, focusing on increased independence. The learning disabilities of our clients are many and we provide support to 129 clients, 54 of whom reside in our nine supported living homes which are located in Southbourne and Christchurch and one residential home in Ringwood.
On Sunday 8th December we hosted the first ever Deer to Pier 5k Reindeer Run at Bournemouth Pier alongside fellow local charity, Autism Wessex. Over 200 people braved the cold and joined us sporting antlers, flashing noses and Christmas jumpers. Even a torrential downpour didn't dampen everyone's spirits as they warmed up with the Gym Tin and Hot Radio before the start of the event.
We need your help!
As Christmas approaches, we ask that you remember the people with learning disabilities that we support at the Stable Family Home Trust. This year, more than any other, we need your help!
2020 has been an unusual and difficult time, presenting many challenges for us all with the emergence of Covid-19. This has been felt even more acutely by the 129 adults we support, 55 of whom live in our supported living homes and are totally reliant on our services.
Our services not only help our clients to enhance their personal development and life skills but they provide a vital lifeline in combatting loneliness. Our services provide that essential social connection, much needed routine and sense of purpose, vital for the wellbeing and mental health of our clients.
