40th Anniversary Capital Appeal

The Stable Family Home Trust launched our 40th Anniversary Capital Appeal in 2017. The purpose of the Appeal is to provide accommodation and facilities to give greater independence to the people that we support with a learning disability. Our aim is to have provided supported living accommodation to a total of 26 people by the end of the Appeal.

The success of the Appeal so far has been hugely encouraging. We have been the grateful recipients of donations from many supportive individuals, charitable trusts, foundations and other grant-giving organisations.

The Appeal comprises 3 projects:

Project 1:

To fund four new supported living homes to provide independence and social inclusion for adults with learning disabilities.

As 2019 closes we are delighted to say that House 1 and House 2 have been purchased and converted thus far and 11 of our clients have moved into their brand new homes.

Feedback from the new residents has been encouragingly positive as they adjust to leading more independent lives with the support of the staff at the homes.

We are now actively fundraising for House 3 and we have reduced the target for the house because the first two houses came in under budget.

Additionally we are now extremely fortunate to have been approached by a charitable foundation which has offered to purchase a house (House 4) on our behalf to rent, within which we shall provide our supported living services to a further group of clients.

As a result of the great accomplishment of the Appeal so far we have been able to adjust the final target from £4.7 million to £3 million.

Project 2:

To generate £300,000 to convert our Abbotsford residential home to supported living accommodation for 6 clients.

This project was funded in 2017 and the residents in the house are delighted with their new specialist facilities of self-contained accommodation and communal areas for them to socialise with each other.

Project 3:

Purchase of a premises to provide training and employment for adults with learning disabilities, to sell garden produce and crafts created at our Aspire Day Services.

We shall fundraise for this when we have fully funded the first two projects.

We cannot achieve these goals without financial backing from trusts and charitable foundations, donations, community support, corporate support, fundraising events and the generosity of the many people who have supported us in so many ways over the years. Please accept our heartfelt thanks for your faith in our work.
